// WHAT IS RE-FUTURE?

Re-future introduces a new approach to cultural integration concerning a specific type of migrants, the Unaccompanied Refugee Minors that arrive in Europe.

During an intense year of training on video literacy, the URM, using their smartphone cameras, learn a more mindful approach to the use of videos and a deeper observation of the reality around them.

Through the universal language of images, they will recount their story from their point of view.

\\ Their videos will become a documentary film and through their eyes we will discover their life and the meaning they give to the word integration.

\\ A scholarly research, based on the evaluation of the video materials produced during the workshop, will focus on how the observation of reality and the use of images can stimulate and help the integration path.

\\ After the workshop, different events and roundtables will be organized, focusing on the URM cultural integration path through the legal guardianing practice.

THE LEGAL GUARDIANING

To share in Italy and in Europe the experience of Accoglierete, a nonprofit organization operating in Sicily to promote the role of volunteer legal guardians for unaccompanied refugee minors.

THE WORKSHOP

To teach URMs assisted by Accoglierete in Sicily the art of storytelling through their smartphones camera.

THE RESEARCH

The smartphone images produced by the URMs will be analyzed by a team of researchers focusing on the kids personal representation of reality as part of their integration path.

DISSEMINATION

A set of events, film-projections, conferences will be spread around Europe to disseminate the project results.

November the 10th Re-future project will be presented the international conference launched by The Film Corner, taking part at the panel “Film literacy methodologies and best practices in the digital era”.

July the 23rd, during the ceremony award of the Ortigia Film Festival in Siracusa, we will present, for the first time in a cinema screen a video promo of Re-Future, in the presence of some of the workshop participants.

JUNE 23 RE-FUTURE AT JOURNEYS FESTIVAL ATTENDING THE SEMINAR ART AND MIGRATION

From June 16th to 25th the international Journeys Festival will stop in Palermo, Sicily. June 23rd we will present Re-Future and the current state of play, within the seminar ” Art and Migration – Example of good practices in Italy ” .
